How To Add Custom Tabs to Magento 2 Product Pages.

The Product Page is one of the most important pages on your Magento 2 store, and it can definitely make the difference between securing a conversion and losing a customer. Because of this, it's imperative that the information you present on Product Pages is clear and complete. The tabs present on Product Pages are a great way to showcase important information, however, the 3 tabs Magento comes with out of the box sometimes aren't enough, and it doesn't come with an option to add more without the need for custom coding. With our Custom Product Page Tabs extension, we've changed that and allowed you to create tabs with your own custom content, like, for instance, a Size Chart or Product Warranty information without the need to touch a single line of code!

The Custom Product Page Tabs module has long been a stable extension that "just works". It did what it was supposed to, and never required any major changes or alterations. With the eCommerce industry becoming increasingly more fast-paced, time is more important than it's ever been, so we decided to bring our extension to the next level and completely overhaul the method used to create and manage custom tabs on Magento 2 Product Pages. Our constant desire to improve our products, combined with a bit of user feedback from the community has resulted in a new and extremely easy-to-use creation and management process for your custom tabs.

The new method is Magento Condition-based and the process for creating a new tab is similar to our Product Labels extension whereby all your custom tabs are listed in a nifty grid in the Magento Admin. All you need to do is hit Add New Smart Product Tab, configure a few basic settings, add your content and choose the display Conditions. Once you save the tab, presto, it'll be displayed on the frontend! This means that you can now have unlimited new tabs created within a few minutes, saving you precious time and effort! P.S: We also made it so that you can also customize the 3 tabs that Magento shows by default a bit. You can now change their name and position on the frontend because maybe you want your Reviews Tab to be shown first!

So what can the module do for you?

The Custom Product Page Tabs extension essentially lets you create additional tabs on your Product Pages in which you can show relevant dynamic content. It saves a tremendous amount of time through the bulk management possibilities you have when assigning custom tabs to your Products. The usage of Magento Conditions allows you to target Products as specifically or as broadly as you'd like, resulting in a management process that's near effortless. Let's take a few concrete examples to get a better idea of what can be achieved:

  • Example 1: You can display a new tab on Product Pages labeled “Size Chart”, which you can choose to display only for products that are part of the “Clothes” category. The content displayed in the Tab can be different based on Gender, Age, or other Condition combinations.
  • Example 2: You can display a new tab on Product Pages labeled “Warranty” for products that are part of the “Electronics” category. Using specific Conditions and combinations of Conditions, you can display different content for types of electronics that have different Warranty types.
  • Example 3: You can display a new tab on Product Pages called “Return Policy”, which contains specific instructions based on the Category the products are included in. Each Category can have different Return Policy rules, for instance, your store might accept small objects in-store, while big objects may need to be sent back to the warehouse.

Because each business is different, these are just a few of the countless possible use cases that can be attributed to this extension, however, we want to illustrate the vast applicability of this functionality, and to underline how simple it is to add and manage custom Product Page tabs in Magento 2 with our extension. Let's take one of these examples and see how we can achieve it, step by step.

Adding a Custom Product Page Tab - Size Chart

Step 1:

Head to Admin -> WeltPixel -> Smart Product Tabs Grid and hit Add New Smart Product Tab.

Add your Size Chart block HTML content in the Content section.

Step 4:

Choose the Conditions/Conditions Combination you'd like to use for displaying the Custom Tab. In our case, we'll be displaying it for the Jackets Category (both Men and Women). These correspond to ID 14 and 23 in Magento, so these IDs will show up as the selected categories once we confirm the conditions.

Step 5:

Save the Custom Tab and reload the frontend. The tab should already be displayed in your specified position, however, if it's not there, try clearing the Magento Cache as well and checking again.
